Newly sworn-in governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Peter Ayodele Fayose, has the image of a controversial personality and that trait is no longer strange to anyone. What many had expected, according to what he said during the campaign period that he’s a changed person, is what he has failed to do because he has continually proved the saying that a leopard cannot change its skin. The controversies he’s involved in since he assumed office are there for us to see.

In his bid to do things differently and probably to identify with the poor, the graduate of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, brought in a 1957 model of Mercedes Benz, to serve as his official car. Contrary to what many are made to believe, the car, sources revealed cost several millions of naira.

Information from reliable source is that the car has been embarrassing the governor all around as it’s said to usually develop fault and stop on the move. Instances where this has happened were cited. The vehicle was said to have started stopping on the road since the next day after inauguration, when it stopped in front of the central mosque, Ado Ekiti. Another one, we learnt happened penultimate Tuesday at Ikere town, when the vehicle stopped in front of Post office. The governor, we learnt had to disembark to board a Range Rover in his entourage, while two policemen were asked to guard the vehicle till solution was later proffered. The situations are sure embarrassing to Fayose but he’s said to have each time taken it in his stride.

Meanwhile, what was synonymous with Fayose infamous first term in office when his hangers on and boys were known for painting the town red and living recklessly may have been revisited as his men are reported to have been spending all around town and showing off.  The most prominent for such act, according to sources, is Fayose’s half brother, Enitan.
