Lagos State APC governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode has sealed a deal with members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God to give him block voting at the next guber election in the state.

Insiders said the politician who is also a member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God was at the just concluded Holy Ghost Congress of the church which took place at the church camp situated along Lagos/Ibadan Expressway from December 8^th – December 12, 2014.

The politician came with his wife and was very visible throughout the event. He got pictures of him and the wife published on the front page of Vanguard Newspaper on Saturday December 13, 2014. Those in the know said the governorship candidate is seriously concerned about the massive votes of the Redeemed Church members as that will definitely give him an edge over Jimi Agbaje, the PDP guber candidate for Lagos State.

Insiders told us that since Jimi Agbaje is also a Christian, the Christians votes in Lagos will be splitted but the APC candidate wants the massive votes of Redeemed Church members as it is the church that has the largest congregation and branches in almost every streets in the state.

We gathered that the General Overseer of the church, Papa Adeboye has also told Redeemers to ensure that they get their voters card so that they can perform their civic responsibility during the elections. It’s interesting to know that this was the strategy President Goodluck Jonathan used to win the hearts and votes of the Redeemed Church members in 2011 when he attended the Holy Ghost Congress and knelt down before Papa Adeboye for prayers and endorsement. Redeemers told us that, that act of the president won him massive votes of the church members throughout the country especially Lagos State, though an Action Congress of Nigeria controlled the state politically but the president defeated Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the then presidential candidate of the APC in Lagos State.
