We gathered that in Afikuyomi’s renewed bid to stay politically relevant he had to look for possible ways to defeat Ganiyu Solomon who has also showed interest in leading the party to electoral success as it is not the first time the duo would be squaring up.

Sources squealed to us that Afikuyomi was first elected senator in 1999, representing Lagos Central Senatorial District but when his second term bid in 2003 became threatened by Musiliu Obanikoro’s senatorial ambition, Afikuyomi then switched to Lagos West where Ganiyu Solomon had already indicated interest and was very popular.

Sources added that sensing the hostility of the contention, Ganiyu Solomon immediately had to put his ambition on hold and worked for Afikuyomi’s emergence, ensuring Afikuyomi emerged victorious.

Information has it that Afikuyomi has been expending resources on his APC chairmanship ambition. But sources told us that it is not certain if Asiwaju would be throwing his weight behind him because Ganiyu Solomon happens to be Tinubu’s loyalist whom he has continued to find dependable.
