In what appears to be the final convergence of the ICT Stakeholders in 2014, ICT Watch Network organizers of the Africa Digital Forum ADF and the Africa Digital Awards ADA is putting together this event with the theme ’’Broadband: Oxygen for a digital economy’’.
The economy of Nigeria is nose diving now and Broadband is one of the critical tools she needs to leapfrog to becoming a digital economy.
This event will parade the most celebrated ICT industry players and investors, decision makers in federal government parastatals, state and local governments.
The keynote Speaker at the Africa Digital forum is the Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola ably supported by our panelist including Dr. Eugene Juwah, EVC/CEO of NCC, Prince Emeka Mba, DG of NBC, Wale Goodluck of MTN, Segun Ogunsanya MD OF AIRTEL, Engr. Lanre Ajayi, Engr. Bayo Banjo, Engr. Emmanuel Ekuwem EVC/CEO of Teledom Group, Bunmi Lawson MD of Accion Micro Finance Bank and Engr. Ernest Ndukwe OFR who is the Chief Host of the Event.
Other sub-themes to be discussed at the Forum include: Broadband Penetration, Helping SMEs grow, Quality of Service, Affordability, Availability and Accessibility among others.
In the same vein, the Africa Digital Awards ADA would celebrate outstanding individuals that have contributed immensely to the growth and leveraged on the potent power of ICT to innovate and execute different ideas. Those to be honoured this year includes MTN, AIRTEL, TECNO Mobile, National Broadcasting Commission NBC, Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, Rauf Aregbesola of State of Osun, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State.
The Individual’s Recognition list of awardees include Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, Engr. Bayo Banjo and Engr. Ernest Ndukwe OFR.
The high point of the event is the honouring of those in the Special Recognition Category including Dr. Muiz Banire, Chief Dele Momodu and the Honourable Speaker House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal CFR.
The chairman of the One day Occasion is Rt. Hon Rotimi Amaechi, Executive Governor of Rivers State while the special guest of honour is Rt.Hon Aminu Tambuwal, Speaker Federal House of Representatives.
The event is slated for December 14, 2014 at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Ikeja, Lagos and time is 3pm.
Tayo Adewusi, the coordinator of the event while responding to media questions on the extent of the planning for the programme, he confirmed that several industry leaders have confirmed their participation at this year’s event and it is not going to be an all talk session as there will be entertainment among others.
