That Senator Iyiola Omisore has not visited the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II) since he was crowned seven months ago is one issue on the lips of thousands of Ile-Ife people. However, we can tell you for free why the politician decided to shun the Ooni’s palace since he came on the throne.
Insiders disclosed to us that the politician’s anger with the Ooni stemmed from the fact he supported another prince for the throne. Besides, those close to the politician squealed to us that he is angry because he sees the hands of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the enthronement of the Ooni. For those who don’t know, the senator and Bola Tinubu are political enemies.
The insiders added that these are the main reasons Senator Omisore has decided to stay clear from the palace. Be that as it may, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State Mr. Adesoji Adagunodo led a 20 man delegation to the Ooni’s palace recently to appeal to the royal father to forgive the politician and use his good office to get him out of EFCC cell. “Your Imperial Majesty, we are here to pay our homage to you as the father of our race who must be respected by all true sons and daughters of Yoruba race. We also beg you in the name of Oduduwa to use your goodwill in assisting us to rescue one of our leaders, Otunba Iyiola Omisore, from the EFCC detention, even though we are not unaware of his attitude towards this sacred palace as he has refused to pay homage since you were divinely crowned seven months ago. We can assure you of his change of attitude as soon as he is released from detention.”
This was the highly respected royal father’s response to the delegation: “Omisore is a prominent Ife son. I don’t have any grudges against him whatsoever over his refusal to visit my palace since I became the Ooni. You all must know that he is entitled to his right of choice on whom and where to visit at anytime. Don’t also forget he is undergoing a procedural investigation and laws of the land must be respected. But I promise to assist you on this matter within my limited capability legally guided. I heartily pray God should quickly set him free if he has no skeleton in his cupboard.”
It is interesting to know that Senator Omisore is presently cooling his feet in detention for allegedly receiving N1.31billion from the Dasukigate arms money.
