What Bukky Ajayi Told People Before Her Death

Bukky Ajayi1On the 6th of July 2016, another Nollywood star and broadcaster, Bukky Ajayi passed on, following the death of Henrietta Kosoko and Alfa Itakure from the make-believe industry. Bukky Ajayi, a veteran actress was reportedly battling with ill-health, breast cancer and cerebral maleria for sometimes. The deceased however was one of the greatest talents to have ever graced the Nigerian movie industry.

She was born on February 2nd, 1934 and has featured in so many movies. Ajayi was on scholarship in London from the Federal government for six years. She later left England and returned to Nigeria after her education in 1965 and started working in Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) as a presentation assistant in 1966.

Bukky Ajayi had already told some of her neighbors that she should be buried the same day she dies as a Muslim, which was done immediately her death was confirmed. Although information at our disposal revealed that Bukky was not born a Muslim, she converted to Islam in 1965 and adopted an Islamic name ZAINAB. When her death of the 82 years old was confirmed, the Actors Guild of Nigeria declared a two day mourning to give last respect to her. One of late Bukky’s sons; Akinwade Peter-Thomas said: “Mama was a good planner that she could manage her career with her conditions being a single mother, she was also referred to as being independent because she raised her children along side maintaining her career.”
