…6 Others on probation

Deborah and Jennifer have become the first contestants to be evicted from the on-going MTN sponsored Project Fame West Africa music competition.

The elimination show is one night that drives home the point of the competitive side of Project Fame West Africa. The evening recorded the first elimination of the season, where two out of the five contestants that were placed on probation the previous week ended their journey in the competition.

The contestants not on probation opened the show as they teamed up for their first group performance –a medley of Chris Brown’s ‘Deuces’ and Beyonce’s ‘End of time’, which was delivered in flawless harmony.

Tejiri, Richie, Jennifer, Deborah, and Kumi then performed one after the other, for a chance to redeem themselves, and remain in the competition. The Judges and Faculty attested to the fact that the performances were much better than the first one that landed them on probation.

In the end, Tejiri was revealed to have garnered the highest votes from the viewers; Kumi was given a second chance by the Faculty, which left the fates of Deborah, Richie, and Jennifer in the hands of their fellow contestants. Eventually, Richie was saved by the contestants as he had more votes than the rest.

Deborah and Jennifer expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to be on a platform as huge as Project Fame, and they each performed for the last time before they took a bow. Deborah performed ‘Have you ever’ by Brandy, while Jennifer performed ‘Best thing I never had’ by Beyonce.

Meanwhile, with Sunday’s elimination show, it has become imperative for the remaining contestants to bring their A-game to every of their performances, as the competition has obviously moved from just having the ability to sing well, but also showcasing essential skills.

The show kicked off with the grand entry of the hosts –Joseph Benjamin and Bolanle Olukanni, who looked all-dressed up as always. Quickly, they made welcome the illustrious Judges, Faculty members, esteemed audience and also announced that the remaining 12 contestants were ready to thrill everyone.

Going straight into the business of the day, Jeff opened the show with ‎‘There Goes My Baby’ by Usher. Biko followed with the rendition of ‘I Wanna Love You’ by Akon. In quick successions, Arewa did ‘Where Do Broken Hearts go’ by Whitney Houston while Pearl performed ‘I Bet’ by Ciara. Her twin sister Ruby followed suit with Celine Dion’s ‘All By Myself’. Kumi who just got back from probation had ‘Talking About Revolution’ by Tracy Chapman while Ada performed ‘Drunk in Love’ by Beyonce.

With these first set of performances, the atmosphere was already charged up and full of excitement.

Anderson then came up to perform Chris Brown’s ‘Crawl’, Deinde ‘Crazy’ by Kci and Jojo, Tejiri ‘All at once’ by Whitney Houston, Chike ‘The Man’ by Aloe Blacc, Richie ‘No one else comes close’ by Joe, Oluchi Nicki Minaj’s ‘Pills and Portions’ and Joy closed the show with a beautiful rendition of ‎‘A long Walk’ by Jill Scott.

It was evident that most of the contestants have finally come out of their shells as the Judges attested to the fact that they are all getting better with their performances. However, as it is in line with the competition rules, the least impressive contestants will have to go on probation and for this week, Chike, Deinde, Richie, Tejiri, Oluchi and Ruby are the victims.
