Ogun Denies Monkey-Pox Rumour

Contrary to reports flying around that Ogun State has been hit by the dreaded disease; monkey-pox, the State Government has come out to deny the wicked rumour.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye refuted the claim in Abeokuta, while speaking with Newsmen. He explained that an overzealous staff of the ministry wrongly identified the disease and hurriedly sent the information to the Federal Ministry of Health, which led to the misinformation.

The Commissioner expressed the readiness of the State to prevent communicable diseases, noting that vaccines would be made available where applicable.

Dr. Ipaye urged people to embrace hand washing culture and minimize contact with animals. He stated that the officer that raised the false alarm on the incident of monkey-pox would be appropriately warned to prevent future occurrence.
