Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has fired at his predecessor, Jonah Jang over his comment that he did not build the Government House for him to occupy without doing anything.

The governor in a statement by his Commissioner for Information, Yakubu Dati, said;

“Instead of making negative comments about the governance of the state, Jang should be more concerned about accounting for Plateau money which he allegedly squandered during his eight-year administration.”

“It is unfortunate that Jang could face the people of Plateau and lay claim to good governance when his tenure as governor has been one of the worse in the history of Plateau State.”

“Recall that the former governor made a similar boast when he was in office to the effect that he would not hand over the keys to the new Government House to anyone outside his family circle; but the people of Plateau State in 2015 reminded him through their votes that he did not build the Government House with his money and that they know the essence of democracy and cannot allow one man to dictate to them who should govern them.”

“People expect the former governor to be contrite for the damage he had done to the state and to hide his face in shame for failing to live up to the promise he made before he became a governor that he would not loot the treasury.”

“Contrary to Jang claims, I am serving the people well through the well-thought-out programmes and policies of my administration and I have been able to put viable projects in place, endearing him to the well-meaning people of the state.”

“There is no other ‘secret’ to winning Plateau than this. With the gradual relocation of the Internally Displaced Persons to their original places of abode, Lalong has again moved the bar of leadership a notch higher.”
