While boasting of his resounding victory at the coming polls, the incumbent Governor of

Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has described the 6-weeks extension of the 2015 general elections as an opportunity to bury the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, saying that the party cannot have up to 10% votes in the forthcoming elections.

Amosun who bared his mind while speaking with news men at the end of his ward-to-ward campaign tour of all the 236 political wards in the state, saying the poll extension is “a blessing in disguise”.

“We took the extension as if nothing has happened. We have visited all the 236 wards but for us, when things turn like this, it will turn to blessing in disguise for us”.

“With the extension, they only postponed their defeat. The defeat would be heavier now. In the history of Ogun State, the highest votes any winning party would have is between 55 and sixty percent. But with what they have done now, maybe, we would be in the position to have about seventy percent in our favour, he said.”

“I am not bothered with the postponement. When they said the development was due to PVC distribution, I know that in every ten persons that will vote, nine will vote for us”.

“We will have more opportunity to bury the PDP in Ogun State. I don’t know of any party, even the other one they call SDP; they are new starters. They want to act as spoilers but God has destroyed them, Amosun said.”

On his level of preparedness and polls’ extension, Amosun declared “we are starting afresh. We are going to all our 20 local government areas again. No resting. We want to keep the tempo on. We want to bury the PDP completely. When they are saying PDP, which is PDP in Ogun state, I used to be PDP, we know ourselves. If they are lying to them in Abuja, I am helping them out now. They don’t have any root in Ogun state. They can’t have 10% votes in Ogun State. They will fail woefully.

He warned the party to steer clear of rigging in the state. “They can’t rig in Ogun State. I have said it repeatedly, they can’t rig in Ogun State. They should bury that evil thought that they want to rig here. People’s will is more than anything they will bring here. Ogun people are ready for them, the governor warned’

He noted that all original members of the PDP had decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Let me tell you, I don’t know who or which kind of the PDP that is not with us. All the PDP are with us fully. If there were anyone in the PDP, they are not real owners of the PDP. All the real owners of the PDP are with us. Don’t forget that I was a member of the PDP. I know the party inside out. All the major arms of the PDP are now with us”.

The governor noted that his ward-to-ward campaign tour of the state was in appreciation of the support of the people of the state in the last forty-four months, pointing out that the tour afforded him the opportunity to know the state more and as well enables our government to plan well and have first hand information on issues that are necessary to address.

“I am totally humbled by the warm reception the people gave to us. Imagine we got to some places 1.00am, 2.00am. It is not that we want to go at night, but when you were told that the people are waiting and they don’t want to leave, and that they had been waiting since morning and they refused to leave because they’ve heard that we am coming. When you see things like that, it humbles one and that is the tonic we need to do more for them”, he noted.

On his administration’s focus when re-elected in April 11 gubernatorial election, Amosun promised that he will develop and transform all rural areas in the state in order to make urban cenres less attractive and as well make agriculture more attractive to graduates and youths generally.

“When we came in in 2011, we cannot just say we want to develop the rural areas without doing the urban centres because when we do the rural areas, people in the rural areas would still want to come to urban centres. Indeed, all what we found in our urban centres would be replicated in rural areas may be in smaller dimension and smaller scale”.

There would not be a place that would be rural when we touch them. All our roads in Ogun State would be addressed.

We will also focus on agriculture that would lead us to industrialization. We want to attract all our graduates into agriculture. We want to let our youths know that there is hope in agriculture, there is money in agriculture. There is a profession, if you do it well, you will soon turn yourself to employers of labour’.
