For the families of Prince O.N.C Akanegbu (Obi Ezenabo Eze Oba) and his delectable wife, Georgeyln Chinwe, and Mr and Mrs Francis Okoye (Fela), it was glamour, splendour, colourful and superlative joy all the way on Monday, 5th April 2021 when their children, Michael and Helen consummated their love in holy matrimony.
The wedding held at the Cathedral Basilica of the Most Holy, Trinity, Onitsha, Anambra state.
From the church, the gaily dressed guests later berthed at Archbishop C.J Petterson Hall, International Auditorium complex, All Saints Cathedral also in Onitsha for the reception.
The ambience in the hall became solemn as the new couple and guests listened with rapt attention touching words of advice, exultation and encouragement from chairman of the occasion, Dr. Emeka Mbaegbu.
Heads nodded in agreement and hands clapped in appreciation as Dr. Mbaegbu meticulously lectured Michael and Helen on the secrets of blissful marriage.
The hall would later become electrifying with breathtaking dancing steps of the new couple amidst rain of wards of Naira and foreign currencies.
It was fun and carnival-like as there were sumptuous meals and exotic wines of different brands for every guest who also went home with valuable wedding gifts.
The solemnization of the marriage between Michael and Helen wasn’t just a union of two hearts in love but also the welding together of different local governments and states.
The bride and groom hail from Oraukwu in Idemili North Council Area and Adazi Enu in Anaocha Council Area respectively, all in Anambra State.
However, the mother of the groom hails from Akokwa in Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State. She is the younger sister of Sir Tony Ezenna, OFR (Ijele Akokwa), Chairman of Orange Group.
Apart from Dr. Emeka Mbaegbu, the roll call of other dignitaries at the colourful but COVID-19 compliant wedding include, Prince Tony Akanegbu, Chief and Mrs Sam Ihionu, Prof Ben Akanegbu, Prof and Mrs Ellis Idemobi, Chief and Mrs Obigallant Idemobi, Chief Chinedu Ezenna and Px Ernest Ezenna.
Others are Chief Joe Ebiliekwe, Engr. Ndubisi Ebiliekwe, Chief Nnamdi Ebiliekwe, Barr. Emeka Ebiliekwe, Mr Ifeanyi Ebiliekwe, Chief Mrs Calista Nwachukwu, Barr Emily Enemuoh, Barr Chika Mgbemena and Mrs Ngozi Nwanna.
Also present at the well-attended wedding were Mrs. Cecilia Asianah, Mrs Ify Ijeoma, Mrs Uche Agakoba, Mrs Pat Igbokwe, Chief Anslem Ozueh, Mr and Mrs Chima Ndulue, Mr and Ifeanyi Ugwuno, Chief and Mrs Azufiaku, Lady Ogo Orji, Mrs Uche Nwokemodo and a serving member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Chu Chu Onyeama.
