CAN Holds Two Days Crusade in Bayelsa State

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), South South zone had a two-day crusade which began yesterday, Thursday 30th March, 2017 with the theme; “Thy Kingdom Come.”

The Chairman of CAN, South South zone, Archbishop Goddowell Avwomakpa reminded the people of Bayelsa state that if the United States – the police of the world and a renowned world power could say “In God We Trust” and their leaders and policy makers ensure that they indeed put God first in all that they do, then there is no reason why developing nations and the states under them should not embrace God and put their trust in Him.

In his message, the chairman of CAN South South zone noted that as many countries and states that put their trust in God will continue to stand out. He therefore urged those in leadership positions as well as the people they lead to wait on the Lord so that they will be able to renew their strength and do exploits

He told the crowd made up of youths, women, men and government officials in the state that everyone’s work will be tested by fire in the end as a result, he urged people to do the will of God so that at the end of man’s journey on earth, he or she will find a place in the bosom of the creator.

According to Avwomakpa; “There is need for everyone created by God to live a life expected of true believers of God by serving God truthfully and give themselves to doing His will in addition to engaging in prayers and thanksgiving.

Furthermore, the cleric noted that the people of Bayelsa should massively turn to God and do God’s will so that they can inherit the kingdom of God.

That way, aside from inheriting God’s kingdom in the end, while they are alive they will never be put to shame, no matter the state of the economy

He noted that the case of Bayelsa state is like the case of Bethlehem of Judah who people think nothing good would ever come from, yet the best thing that has ever happened to the word came from Bethlehem through the birth of Jesus Christ

He noted that the choice of former President Goodluck Jonathan was divine just like the election of Seriake Dickson as governor of Bayelsa for a second tenure despite the attempt to stop the governor. He thus described former President Jonathan and Governor Dickson as Godly vessels that will take the state to greater height.

In his word; “This is time to consolidate on what God has started in Bayelsa so that God will do greater things in the midst of the people in time to come.

While praying for peace  and economic progress of Bayelsa state and amongst citizens of the state as well as those who have business interest in the state,  Archbishop Avwomakpa noted that if the leadership and the people of the state put God first,  the economy of the state and the entire South South region will blossom more than the era of the oil boom of the 70s such that a new roadmap of transformation will take over the entire state and spread across the entire South South region and will in turn impact positively on the Nigeria nation. He described the Niger Delta Development Bank as answer to prayers made in time past.

He therefore urged the youths and mothers in the state to shun vices and put their trust in God noting that better days lie ahead.

The next phase of the all-round crusade for all the South South region will hold in Rivers state next month.
