Bukky Wright Reveals Shocking Secret

bukky wrightThe homely and humble but ‘no nonsense’ Bukky Wright who has carved a niche for herself where make-believe is concerned, spoke with Top Celebrities’ OJO OLUWAKOREDE on her clothing line, recently opened salon and a spa and other interesting issues. Read on…

Hello Ma, it’s been a while?

Sure, how are you doing?

Am good and you?

I bless God.

Who exactly is Bukky Wright?

I’m a private person, trying to shield myself from the public. I’m a very homely person. Though, some people believe I’m an extrovert but they don’t know me. I really prefer keeping to myself and staying indoors. I’m a shy person. Sure, when I’m with my own people, I talk and I play. But I won’t take nonsense from anybody. I don’t pretend.

That means you are temperamental?

My temper is bad anyway, that’s why I’m usually very quiet.

It is no longer news that you’ve ventured into other things outside the movie industry. Would you like to open up on that?

I have not quit acting but I have to start planning for the rainy days. So, I have to diversify into other forms of businesses.

So, which business are you into?

I have a clothing line and a boutique and recently opened a salon and a spa.

With the just listed businesses, I am not sure you would stop at that?

Having been encouraged to go into interior decorations by friends and well wishers, I’ve done a couple of interior decor jobs for friends and they all love it.

It seems you want to forever remain a ravishing beauty. How have you been able to achieve this?

(Smile…) I take care of my skin, see my doctor regularly, go for check up, exercise my body and most importantly, I eat healthy foods. But in all, I bless God for everything.

Rising to stardom in the industry, how easy or how hard was it like?

I did not suddenly become a household name in the industry. I paid my dues. I went through the thick and thin of the industry. I had acted without being paid. At those times, if I didn’t want to continue acting, I would have gone for something else, but because I love what I do, I hanged in there, hoping for better days and sincerely it paid off. I faced the challenges because I believe tough times don’t last but tough people do. There were occasions I went for auditions and I never got to feature in the project even when it was conspicuous that I was the best person for the job. So it is all about persistence, perseverance and what have you. But I give God the glory today because I am who I am and where I am.

During those periods, how was your feeling like?

Bad of course, what did you expect?  I felt bad but not discouraged. A situation whereby I was the best person for a job and the producers felt there were people who have been in the industry before me and they were more comfortable working with those people and I was dropped for them.

Don’t you think the producers were right because those you referred to had more experience than you were and that counted?

Anyway, I won’t want to make that an issue now because it was in the past.

But now, are you not also enjoying the same preference given to those people back then?

I have said it that I paid my price but I won’t look down on anybody.

There are people who opined that you were lucky when you made your break in the industry. What’s your take on that?

They are entitled to their opinions but I think I just gave you a brief of my ordeal in the industry. More so, you need to be good in everything you are doing. I put in my best and I ensure I deliver in any project I get myself involved in. Because if you are lucky today, you may not the next time.

Now that you are one of the ‘A list actresses’, has that taken anything away from you?

Yes, it has taken so many things away my brother.

Such as?

My privacy, but mind you, I think it’s one of those prizes one has to pay for fame. I couldn’t possibly get that for free. Still, I give God the glory for what I have achieved, and I must thank my brother for everything, for standing by me when the journey was rough. My children and husband, they’ve all been wonderful. I really appreciate them.

Do you mind sharing one of the rough moments?

I don’t want to go over that again. I look only at where I have fallen, make corrections and move on. But in all, I give God the glory.

How do you deal with your male admirers and should I say those that go extra mile to lure you into a relationship?

Hmmnn…’The eyes won’t behold a beauty and not try to acknowledge it’, but I manage all that without issues, they’re just appreciating the good work of God.

Any advice for the upcoming actresses in the industry?

They need to work hard, be focused and believe in God and also fear Him.

Your final words for your fans

I appreciate them all for being there always. I love them all and I won’t disappoint them.
