A member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Bassey Ekpeyong representing Oron Federal Constituency, Akwa Ibom State is in hot soup. The lawmaker has been accused of forging Abia State Polytechnic certificate and submitting the alleged fake certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The lawmaker claimed he gained admission into the school in 2009 with Matric No. NDE/3829/BA and obtained an Ordinary National Diploma in Business Administration from the institution in 2011. However, in a letter dated May 21, 2016, and signed by Dr. (Mrs.) Constance Evuline, acting Registrar, the letter read: “Having done a thorough search on our records, we write to confirm that the above named (Ekpeyong) was not a student in the Department of Business Administration of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, at any period at all.
