Atiku In Big Trouble

These are not the best of times for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has swooped on his company and major source of income, Intels.

The FIRS stormed Intels Headquarters in Onne on Monday 16th October, 2017 and placed a seal on the property asking the company to pay unremitted taxes.

Besides, the Nigeria Free Zone Authority has equally written a letter to Intels accusing the company of operating illegally within the zone.

That is not all, Intels Nigeria Limited (INL) was also dealt a huge blow recently with the termination of its Pilotage Agency Agreement by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

Insiders disclosed to us that the contract worth millions of dollars was cancelled following a letter from the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN), to the Managing Director of NPA, Ms. Hadiza Bala-Usman, directing NPA to terminate the pilotage agreement and NPA promptly ended the contract on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, without inviting Intels to the agreement for negotiation or due recourse to the terms of the agreement that specify conditions precedent before a party can exit the contract.
