Anambra State APC has picked Sharon Ikeazor to contest the forthcoming senatorial election in the state. Uche who decamped from PDP to APC recently to pick the ticket has been left in the cold.
Mrs. Uche Ekwunife was born on 12th January, 1970. She is a native of Nri, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria.
Uche graduated from the famous University of Calabar where she bagged a degree in Business Education/Accounting. She also has a master degree in Business Administration from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State. Moreso, she has a Honorary Doctorate degree in Public Administration. Before her university education, she attended her primary and secondary school at Onitsha, Anambra State.
She is married to Chief Larry Ekwunife who is a famous, successful business man and entrepreneur. Their blissful union is blessed with children.
She has managerial know how in the field of banking that was simply because she once worked in a bank couple of years ago before she switch to politics. She has worked with banks like Royal Merchant Bank, Equitorial Trust Bank and the then Standard Trust Bank and was able to achieve the position of an Area Manager before she left the banking world for politics. She has several awards and Chieftaincy titles from various communities where her influence and humbleness is felt. Amongst the Chieftaincy titles and awards she has bagged include; Iyom Ugochinyelez-na-nwata, (Nri), Ada Ugo-Igbo (Igbo-Ukwu), Anyanwu-Aguluezigbo, Ife-Abagana ‘Nnedoramma of Aguata’ Ezinne na Nimo and Ugomba-Agulu.
In 2010, she contested in the Anambra State Gubernatorial elections under the platform of the Peoples Progressive Alliance (PPA) but lost. She again sought for the seat in 2014 under All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and unfortunately lost. She never gave up in her political career, In 2015 she gathered momentum and came back where she contested and won a seat in the senatorial election to represent Anambra Central Senatorial Zone which was recently nullified by the Court Appeal.
